About Story Trails of Maine
Hi, I’m Joe! After living in multiple towns and regions across Maine, I have come to find that there is so much to explore and also so many businesses and hidden gems people have not heard of. I decided to create this website and these resources to help families and friends discover locations in Maine or find something to do during any season.
My background is in education, communication, and technology. A few years ago, I was running an escape room in Farmington and quickly needed another idea while everything was closed (re: the pandemic). During that time, I started creating outdoor scavenger hunts around downtown areas. I took that idea and expanded it into the creation of a travel app called Story Trails of Maine.
Now that I have my own family ready to explore, I understand more clearly the logistics of traveling with children, extended family members, (and pets!) and many of the challenges that come along with that. I have thought on multiple occasions, “Hey, wouldn’t it be nice if there was a list of [insert random category of places (usually for me they were food-related)] that I could look at to see what is closest to me? Surely, that has to exist.” Well, many times it did not exist – so here I am collecting that information and putting it all on this website so it can be easier to find what you are looking for in Maine.
